About Us
A Community Partnership for Care
All of us at Packard Health work extremely hard to ensure that all
members of our community have access to the resources they need to lead
healthy lives. And, in turn, we depend on our community to help us maintain
the resources necessary for continuing our work. Packard Health is Washtenaw
County's only non-profit private medical practice that offers continuous
access to health care to all members of our community, regardless of
their ability to pay. It is what sets us apart from local for-profit
physicians groups, free clinics, and hospitals: a dependable relationship
with a family doctor, for all.
As the needs in our community intensify during challenging economic
times, our commitment remains firm. Our work is vital to our patients,
their families, and the Washtenaw County community. While most commercial
practices limit their patient mix to well below five percent uninsured
or poorly insured, nearly fifty percent of Packard's patients are uninsured
or poorly insured. Recent trends in health care and in the economy have
tipped this balance, driving more community members to the clinic without
insurance coverage. To offset the costs of uncompensated care, Packard
Health has built partnerships with government and community organizations
and individuals. Community partnerships are becoming more indispensable
than ever.
"Packard Health is truly a community partnership for care. We depend
on the generosity and foresight of many, many individuals and organizations
to extend the best care possible to all in our community. We are grateful
for their partnership–and yours!"
