About Us
What distinguishes Packard Health from other local health care providers?
- Packard Health is committed to making health care accessible
to everyone, including those whose economic, cultural, and
social conditions might otherwise prevent them from receiving care.
- Packard Health is a family practice serving patients
of every generation, from birth through the end of life.
- Packard Health delivers first-rate health care. In
2007, Packard providers were ranked "above average" by Care Choices
in a variety of clinical areas, including treatment of asthma and
coronary artery disease, screening for breast, cervical, and colorectal
cancers, care of diabetes, and child care and immunization.
- Packard Health patients establish dependable, ongoing relationships with
their physicians. The continuity of care is not disrupted by change
or loss of insurance.
- Packard Health's innovative health care approach is
focused on keeping people well, rather than merely treating their
illnesses. We offer health promotion and exercise classes, support
for managing chronic disease, nutrition education, and a food pantry.
- Mental health care is fully integrated at Packard Health.
Patients, primary care providers, psychiatrists, and social workers
collaborate during regular appointments. Packard Health's approach
has become a nationally recognized model for the integration of primary
and behavioral health care.
- Packard Health invests in medical practice technology.
Electronic medical records, disease registries, and e-prescribing
are already in use, and we will soon add e-visits and electronic clinical
tracking to our list of technological advancements.
- Packard Health is a community-oriented organization that
reflects and honors the richness and diversity of our community. Our
governing board is composed entirely of members of the very community
which we serve, and many board members are also Packard Health patients.
- Packard Health is a community partnership for care.
We maintain strong relationships with the University of Michigan and
St. Joseph Mercy hospitals, the Washtenaw Health Plan, the Washtenaw
Community Health Organization, local government, and many other non-profit
and community organizations.
- Packard Health is a sustainable non-profit organization with
a 35-year history of excellence. We earn 75% of our revenue from insurance
and patient payments and contracts, and 25% through grants and donations
from our community partners.
Other local Safety Net health care providers may offer some of these
features, but Packard Health provides it all.
